III Summerschool on Human Rights (2015)

From June 22 to June 26, 2015, the third Summer school on human rights was held on the basis of the Kazan (Volga region) Federal University. It was organized within the framework of the inter-university master programme «International Protection of Human Rights», successfully implemented since 2009 by Consortium of Russian Universities (RUDN University, MGIMO University andRussian State University for the Humanities, from September 1, 2013 Kazan (Volga region) Federal University and Perm State University, since October 21, 2014 - Ural State Law University, The Liberal Arts University, Ural Federal University and Voronezh State University), with the support of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the Russian Foreign Ministry. RUDN University - as the leading university of Consortium, took the students of I and II Summer schools on Human Rights. ФОТО Theme of the III Summer school 2015 was«International protection of economic, social and cultural human rights in conflict and post-conflict situations». More than 150 students (among them the master's students of the International Human Rights Protection Programme of the department of international law of RUDN University - A. Moiseev, V. Chervonikova, A. Yavdoshchuk and J.-B. Bucuru) visited lectures and practical sessions of well-known human rights experts, such as well as the UN experts, personnel of the UN OHCHR, professors of the European Union University for Human Rights and Democratisation (EIUC), professors and leading lecturersof international law departments of Russian universities, well-known Russian rights defenders and representatives of non-governmental organizations. The Summer school was attended by lecturers: N. Haydar (member of the UN Committee on the elimination of discrimination against women), R. Komenda (senior adviser on human rights under the UN system in the Russian Federation), D. Mukhamadiev (head of the regional office of the International Federation of Red Cross Societies and Red Crescent in Russia), D. Chowdry (lawyer of the International Network on the Protection of economic social and cultural human rights), L. Mingazov (doctor of law, professor, head of the UNESCO department on Human Rights and Democracy of Kazan (Volga region) Federal University), V. Gefter (a well-known human rights activist , director of the Human Rights Institute) and others. ФОТО On 25 and 26 June, the participants visited two sections (optional): «Economic, social and cultural rights of vulnerable groups» and «Protection of economic, social and cultural rights in armed conflicts and post-conflict situations». Within each section, lectures, seminars and interactive games were held. The moderator of the section «Economic, social and cultural rights of vulnerable groups» was the assistant professor of the department of international law of RUDN University–E.S. Alisievich, who also presented reports on the topics: «The category of vulnerability in modern international law» and «Protection of economic and social rights of older people». Moderator of the section «Protection of economic, social and cultural rights in armed conflicts and post-conflict situations» was U. Mammadov, associate professor of the department of international and European law of the Kazan Federal University. ФОТО Within the framework of the Summer school there was also a contest «Model of the European Court of Human Rights» with the participation of teams from the Russian Universities of Consortium. The competition was held in English, and its final was held in the building of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Tatarstan. The students of the Summer school took an active part in the photo contest «The universal declaration of human rights», the results of which were summed up on June 26, 2015 at the closing ceremony. Within the framework of the Summer school there was also a scientific and practical round table «methodological provision of human resources training in the field of the protection of human rights», attended by the Human Rights Ombudsmen of various regions of Russia, including the Human Rights Ombudsman in the Republic of Tatarstan- S.Kh. Saburskaya, in the Perm region -T.I. Margolina and in the Voronezh region -Т.D. Zrazhevka. All students of the Summer school received certificates of participants.
