Perm State University is the first university in the Urals, one of the founders of the Association of classical universities of Russia and the Association of leading
universities of Russia.
The university consists of 12 faculties, 76 departments and Solikamsk state pedagogical institute. The Natural science Institute, the special design bureau
«Mayak», the Botanical garden, the educational and scientific base «Preduralye», as well as the educational and experimental forestry «Troitskoe» located in the
Chelyabinsk region represent a solid base for conducting educational and production practices and scientific research. The University's fundamental scientific library is one of the largest in the region.
At all stages of its development, the university is demand as an educational and scientific center in Russia. In 2006, the University became the winner of contest within the framework of the priority national project «Education», in 2010 it was awarded the status of a national research university. Today there are world-famous scientific schools here. Teachers, personnel, students and their foreign colleagues are working on solving the most relevant issues, among them - rational nature management, technologies for reducing risks and reducing the consequences of natural and man-made disasters, energy saving and hydrogen energy, exploration of the Earth from space, creation of new medicines. The university's alumni hold key positions in all spheres of economic, scientific, cultural, state and political life of the region, many of them play a significant role in the life of Russia.
The international activity of Perm State University is aimed at strengthening academic cooperation with foreign universities in the field of joint research, the development of curricula, and the exchange of teachers, post-graduate students and students. The most important educational and scientific communication have developed with the Oxford, Manchester Metropolitan Universities (Great Britain), the University of Lüneburg (Germany), the Slovenian University (Ljubljana, Slovenia) and many others. More than 90 partnership agreements have been signed with universities of different countries, and Perm State University has become the place of education for almost two hundred foreign students.
Perm State University became the first university in Prikamye, which became a participant in the academic ranking of universities in the world Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). Since 2014, university is among the best higher education institutions of the BRICS countries, as well as the countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
